Season started in Bahrain with F1
Aku's first race weekend in TCR International Series in Bahrain was full of emotions. The result was disappointing, but Aku showed that his pace is good enough to battle for wins in this high level international series.
The qualifying was not an easy one as both free practises were very short due to technical issues and red flags. So Aku had to push as hard as possible without real knowledge of the limits. Aku's fastest lap was a good one and he ended up in P6 with only 0,16s to poletime.
The first race started well, Aku overtook one car. The pace was good, but after a couple of laps the brakes started to fade and it was difficult to maintain a good rhythm. Towards the end Aku was able to manage the brakes better and was actually faster than the cars in front of him. But on the last lap the gearbox was stuck on 3rd gear and Aku was lucky to maintain his 5th position with only 0,017s.
Race two started very well and Aku took 2nd position in the first corner. Unfortunately Aku struggled with the lauch control in the start and his car moved a bit forward before the green light. The race itself was a reasonable one and Aku finished third. Unfortunately there was not too much he could do against the top Seats. After the race the race stewards punished Aku with a 30s penalty, so the final position was 10.
So now the aim is at Estoril, where the next race weekend will take place in three weeks. The team will certainly do it's best to improve the car and Aku is fully motivated to do a good weekend with hopefully better results.
